Neighbors Helping Neighbors Offers Free Meals During Pandemic

For those who are experiencing food insecurity amid measures to control the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) will host a drive thru mobile food pantry this Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, (lower level) 9542 Co Hwy S.

No documentation will be required to obtain a prepackaged food box from Second Harvest Food Bank, but NHN asks that you reserve your share in advance. Connect with NHN via email (nbrhelpingnbr19@gmail.com), phone (608-437-6114) or Facebook (LINK: https://www.facebook.com/NeighborsHelpingNeighborsCommunityClothesCloset).

NHN is a new nonprofit organization with roots in the Community Clothes Closet, formed with the support of the Mount Horeb Area School District, local charitable groups, area clergy, and engaged community members. NHN is creating a hub where people in need in our community can access food, clothing and personal items, as well as information regarding other services, all under one roof.

For those wishing to help at this critical time monetary donations are the most urgent need. At this time Neighbors Helping Neighbors, has made the decision to secure food thru 2nd Harvest Food Bank.  This decision was made by the board, out of health and safety concerns for all involved. To donate to this effort, you can contribute online at mthorebneighbors.org or mail a check to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, P.O. Box 196, Mt. Horeb, WI 53572. Proceeds will go toward purchasing the non-perishable food items from Second Harvest and buying gift certificates to Miller’s and Kwik Trip so people can buy milk, eggs, produce and meat items. For more information, and to donate or volunteer for future needs, visit NHN’s website at mthorebneighbors.org.
