Man arrested for OWI after driving wrong way on highway

On Sept. 1 at approximately 9:06 p.m., a traffic complaint was called in for the Mount Horeb area.  A vehicle was seen driving the wrong way on US Highway 151. The vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near Mount Horeb. 

An officer was in the area and located the vehicle within a minute of the time the call was dispatched.  There were several near collisions before the officer could get the vehicle stopped.  The officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver.  The officer noticed signs of impairment and an odor of intoxicants.  After field sobriety tests were conducted, the driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated 1st Offense.  The driver refused to provide an evidentiary chemical test to determine the concentration of alcohol in their system.

The driver was identified as James Edison, age 59.  He was cited for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st Offense and Driving the Wrong Way on a Divided Highway.
